Johan is a medical and a business development specialist with 32 years experience in the Healthcare Industry and other economic sectors, including telecommunications and leisure. He has an MBBCh and BSc(Med) degrees from the University of Witwatersrand and has business qualifications from Damelin in South Africa and Wharton in the USA. He has worked as a General Practitioner, Development and Operations Director of the Medicross Healthcare Group where he developed 80+ medical centers and 15 day hospitals over a 3-5 year period. He is also the founder of Cell C the third mobile network in South Africa, where he still serves as a director on the board of local shareholders.
Over the Years Johan has inter Alia managed the first private clinic in Maputo, Clinica Cruz Azul, worked in the development of a private healthcare strategy in north Africa (Lybia before the civil war), Senegal and MKala. He was approached by Black Ivy to develop their Ambulatory Healthcare facility in Accra, Ghana.
Johan together with his business partners, Mr Alex Thompson and Mr Frans Labuschagne, have embarked on several healthcare projects in the SADC and EAC areas of Africa as part of Glenmore Capital based in Botswana. These include the Development of a business plan with current fundraising initiative, of a medical Center and Day Clinic network identified countries, a medical devices business and various other healthcare related initiatives.
Johan is a keen deep-sea fisherman, scuba diver and lover of the African bush and nature. He is married to Pauline and has two children and a grandchild who live and work in Australia. Johan and Pauline live in Johannesburg, South Africa
